Tis Goeman (1999) is a screenwriter, playwright and filmmaker. He has a great interest in the visual arts and finds it absolutely no problem to stand in front of the camera himself. In addition to making videos, he also has a lot of experience as an interviewer and has presented several shows on stage.
“I’m a really visual guy, I’m sorry but that’s just the way it is. I don’t have the patience for books. I’ll read them but I’m not going to write them if you catch my drift. I want my idea’s to come to life, almost litterally. I want to see actors living the roles I write. That sounds a lot more sensual than I intended by the way, but okay.”
Tis is also very skilled at spotting other people’s qualities. If someone isn’t aware of their talents and selling points, Tis will be sure to bring it to their attention and hook them up with someone that can further their artistic career. After that, it won’t take long before Tis taps you on the shoulder and asks you if you have got time to chat. Preferably face-to-face of course. He is always gennuinely intrigued.
“I love arranging things. Calling around and kickstarting new collaborations. The best things always come from shared interests. They distil what really matters. It’s so easy to forget what others have to offer, but if you remember it, you’ll always know who to call and when.”
In addition to his social nature, Tis also has a talent for concepts and ideas. Few people are as driven as Tis in a brainstorming session. Once Tis is on a roll, there seems to be no end to the amount of idea’s he can pull out of his figurative hat.
“If I’m on a roll, I’m on a roll. That can be tricky sometimes. You’ll end up with a huge pile of idea’s that are too good to throw away, but you don’t have the time to work on them either. Our time here on earth is limited. So you have to make a gazillion choices every day. Luckily I’m quite good at that too. But don’t tell anyone yet. People will lose their minds when they find out.”
In the near future, Tis wants to have one of his screenplays produced, which might be sooner than expected. In the mean time he spends a lot of time in Dutch theatres with his girlfriend. He is also busy working on his brand new YouTube channel and supervising emerging writers and other types of artist together with Oscar Scheepers.
